hello s&bbers!

this month we are starting a new section of our website.
a section for women struggling with cancer.

we will have hats and scarves and accessories we've made especially with you in mind.
and half of all the proceeds we make from these particular products will be donated during breast cancer awareness month, which is in october this year.

we are going to have a photoshoot sunday, february 19, 2012.
there are no age or weight restrictions. we just ask that if you want to be part of this shoot,
you come with a good attitude, and a generous, joyful spirit. 

this shoot is not about the sadness of this disease, its about empowering us to carry on.


WHAT YOU WILL LOOK LIKE:

- for this shoot, we will be going completely natural. there will be absolutely no make up on your faces, 
except maybe a little powder to cut down on shine from the lights. so if you're not comfortable going completely make up free, this isn't the shoot for you :)

- simple white blouse, t-shirt or sweater.

- no accessories except for what we put on you, please, and wedding rings.

- your hair- will be GONE. we will shoot you with hair slicked back, under caps, under scarves, etc. this shoot will be all about your gorgeous faces and the strength all women have to have inside to battle this disease.

- happy. while we've all been touched by the tragedy of this disease and the loss it can bring. we want to continue to give hope and strength to the women battling NOW. the women who have no hair and walk out into the world every day. the women who have lost their breasts and still wake up every morning smiling and thanking God for every day (like my amazing friends beth and kaitlin.) this will be a day of celebration honoring the women who have survived, and the women struggling today.

i have been completely OBSESSED with nicole fox since the MOMENT i saw her on americas next top model.
she won le cycle 13: the petite cycle, and she was weird, and quiet, and so demur and sweet and genuine. BUT- it's her LOOK. shes REALLY tiny. tiny face, tiny mouth, tiny shoulders.... like, very very slight.
and she just looks like a walking doll to me. plus she has my dream hair so, nicole, don't even talk to me.

anyway, was googling pictures of her last night, and figured it was about time i feature her here :)

Hi models!
Here is what to expect and bring for all photo shoots in 2012.
Start collecting! <3 (photos below and schedule below)


This year we will be shooting:

- Singles and group shots in front of a white backdrop.

- Mature and serious poses, with a few fun ones.

- Ads for online

- Pictures for the new website design

- New business cards, thank you notes & price tags

- Products

- Video will ALWAYS be taken behind the scenes and of the photo shoot





Ladies please bring:

- A white button up shirt, or plain (or romantically flowered) white, grey or beige top or dress OR

- A black shirt, tank top, turtle neck, blouse or dress OR

- A striped or polka dotted shirt, blouse or tank top (think pinks, blacks, greys, light blues, romantic)
(you may bring one, or ALL the above. if we have your size, one of the 3 will be provided for you.)

- IF YOU HAVE NONE OF THE OPTIONS ABOVE, ONE WILL BE PROVIDED FOR YOU. 
PLEASE REQUEST YOUR SIZE IN THE COMMENT SECTION BELOW 24 HOURS PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED PHOTO SHOOT TIME.

- Black pants OR

- Dark NICE, non-holey jeans OR

- Black leggings or tights

- High black heels or black flats or black boots. ALL FOOTWEAR MUST BE BLACK.

- Red lipstick

- Big jewelry (lots of strings of pearls, lots of bangle bracelets, drop earrings, etc. you will be asked to share these with other models, but obviously leave with your belongings at the end of the shoot.)





Men please bring:

- A white, button up shirt OR

- A black or dark grey turtle neck or fitted t-shirt

- A black or dark grey vest OR

- Jacket

- Black bow tie or long tie. ALL TIES MUST BE BLACK.

- Any hat that is fancy-esque and looks great on you




Preparations:

- Ladies: Please have your hair curled up french/marilyn monroe bombshell style OR

- Please wear it up in a very high, messy bun (pictures provided below) OR

- Wear it sleek and sophisticated

- Men: Please come dressed and ready to go.




What to expect:

- Cramped quarters. Lots of group shots. A good attitude is a must. Please do not bother coming if you don't enjoy working hard, and working in a group. Model shoots can be very tedious, especially group efforts. Everyone has to work together, and it can take quite some time to get even one good shot where everyone is giving their best. Please come with a happy attitude, knowing what will be expected of you in that regard.




What is expected of you:

- Promptness & Professionalism. If you are late to more than one shoot, you will not be welcomed back. This is a business, and you will never be the ONLY model at a shoot. Professionalism is key, and we expect you to be prompt and ready when you walk in the door. If you come late, and don't have hair and make up already done, you will not be included that day. We do not have time to get you ready, that is up to you. If you are more than 20 minutes late to ANY shoot, you will not be included that day. It's completely disrespectful to the other models who took the necessary steps to be there on time. Please be respectful. 

- Versatility & Professionalism. You will be asked to move and stretch and pose in ways you may not be used to. This is where practicing your poses before hand comes in very easy. Also, warming up your body and stretching is ALWAYS a good idea. Like a dancer. If you cannot reach or hold the pose that is asked of you, you will be replaced in that shot by someone who can execute it. This is no big deal. We realize there is a learning curve, but that is what this blog is for. We have given you plenty of examples of what you will need to practice for our shoots. Please do your research.

- Confidence & Professionalism. Please do NOT come to these shoots if you are wildly self conscious, don't like people touching you or looking at you closely, don't like having your picture taken, or if you will take a long time to warm up in front of the camera. I do not have time to tell you 500 times you look beautiful and "please do this". You need to be comfortable enough with yourself to be natural in front of the camera and to work with direction. You will be photographed when you're getting ready, during down time, and then during the actual photo shoot time. There is no time to be self conscious.

- Kindness & Professionalism. If at any time you are unkind, negative, or detrimental to the shoot and process or other models in any way, you will be asked to leave immediately and not invited back.

- Discreetness & Professionalism. This is a business. If our pictures show up on your blog, or facebook, or any other venue and they are cropped or altered in ANY way, you will not be invited back, and will be asked to remove the content. The pictures on our website and facebook belong to US. They are our property. If you steal them and use them in a way we deem inappropriate or disrespectful, you will be asked to remove them, and not welcomed back. We realize you will want the pictures. You are welcome to take them. Just DO NOT alter them. No cropping, no color changing, no logo removal, nothing, and please display the proper links to give credit. These are not YOUR pictures, they are ours that we are allowing you to use. That is part of being a model... you have no ownership to what you appear in. Please understand that up front so we don't run into problems down the line.

Help:

- Please get ready AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE before hand.

- If you need help with lipstick or eye liner, we can help you.
But we don't have time to curl everyone's hair. 

- Also please bring your own hair ties and bobby pins.

- Hairspray will be provided if needed.

Our photo shoots are ALWAYS a super fun, happy experience.

for those of you who don't enjoy dressing in all orange or all neon green, the accent color is the way to go. it's usually what i rock too. i usually wear a somewhat muted outfit (silver flats, dark jeans, white t-shirt, black sweater) and then i have a super bright scarf, or purse, or earrings... sometimes all of the above :)

if you keep the basics basic, you can go wild with the rest.
